My Bright Hoot Owl!

Halloween may be a couple of months away still, but it doesn't stop me from planning ahead (which is a recurring theme in my life). I looked around for a costume or pattern that was similar to the bright owl costume I had in my head. Then I decided to make Macy's first Halloween costume. I decided on an owl from my current obsession with the funky birds since I've fallen in love with them during the planning of her birthday party. As of now, her costume is still a work in progress. I still need to complete a couple of finishing touches before it is completely done. More pics to come!

I made the base "jumper" out of brown fleece, modifying an infant animal costume pattern.

The sea of feathers and my daughter's hand.

I decided to string each line of feathers together so that they'd stay in line better, I used bias tape.
Three lines in, I decided to put the bias tape under the feathers, not on top like this.
I also made a wing "cape" to tie around Macy's shoulders with ribbon.
The hat was crocheted by my cousin from a pattern I bought from AngelsChest on Etsy.com.

Here's the back, it's nearly complete!

And, the front, complete with hat!

You're a Hoot - A Bright Owl Themed First Birthday

My amazing daughter will only turn one year old once. I came across the base for her owl-themed party in an Oriental Trading magazine. After searching online for hours, I decided that the bright colors of this particular "You're A Hoot" theme are unrivaled. Macy has a bright personality- her party should, and will, reflect her spunk.

Although her party isn't until November 5th, I have been working on it since June. It needs to be perfect, so the more time I have, the better!
These .jpg images are from DreamLikeMagic on Etsy.com, inspired by the You're A Hoot collection from OrientalTrading.com

I created these stickers using Avery.com's design studio, along with the .jpg images from DreamLikeMagic. The photos will be hung from manzanita branch centerpieces. The other stickers will  adorn water bottles, food and drink labels, treat bags, game prizes, and more.

These napkins are my inspiration for the whole party!
Our event space has beautiful wooden beams, perfect for hanging party lanterns from!
These cute owls will join the lanterns from the beams.
Whoo doesn't love Swirl Pops? These great favors will be arranged in holes drilled in to wood rounds.
This cute activity is from OrientalTrading.com- the owls are to be customized by the creative coloring of each guest!

The tables will be covered with a mix of hot pink and bright orange tablecloths and turquoise tableware,  manzanita branch centerpieces with hanging photo "ornaments" of Macy from her first day through the end of her first year.

I will post more photos as I complete more projects for her party. I can hardly wait until November so that I can post actual party photos!
